Perez Hilton live web show at MTV EMA's

Perez Hilton, the original celebrity blogger, will be the Host of this year’s live webcast of the 2008 ITV Europe Music Awards. The 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Liverpool Echo Arena, Liverpool – European Capital of Culture - on Thursday 6th November.

“This is an incredible coup as Perez is the pioneer of celebrity exposé blogging,” said Richard Godfrey Senior Vice President, Music and Production and Executive Producer, MTV Europe Music Awards. “As the Host of this year’s live web broadcast he is sure to bring his own unique style of incisive reportage to the show to make it a web experience to remember.”

This will be the first time that Perez Hilton – the self professed “Queen of all Media” – will be a presenter for MTV in Europe following his VH1 premiere What Perez Sez in the US.

“MTV is bringing Russell Brand to America to bring a little bit of British flair to the VMAs as their host this weekend. And now, they're bringing ME to the U.K. to bring my very own Perezciousness to all of Europe,” said Perez Hilton. “I am honored and thrilled to be involved with the Europe Music Awards. I've watched the show every year from the U.S., but this will be my first time attending and presenting, so that's especially exciting”.

In the run up to the Awards, Perez will cover the preparations for Europe’s most prestigious live music event as well as report from MTV Liverpool Music Week sponsored by edc by Esprit. On the night of the event itself, he will kick off MTV’s live multi-platform offering with a prime position on the red carpet, interviewing the stars and trying to extract any gossip for MTV viewers. Throughout the night he will continue to report live from backstage at the Liverpool Echo Arena and will also present one of the coveted MTV Europe Music Awards.

In 2007 the MTV EMAs - broadcast on 19 channels across Europe as well as across the US and Asia - reached a total television audience of over 30 million people. Additionally, dedicated MTV EMA websites saw a 35% increase year on year to three million unique visitors with total visits on show day (November 1st 2007), increasing by 75% compared to 2006. Over 78.8 million votes were cast (+360% vs 2006) and there were 200,000 unique WAP visitors (+305% vs 2006) and 3.2 million video streams. The 2008 MTV EMAs will continue to offer audiences multiple opportunities to engage with content via television, web and mobile and will be broadcast on 21 channels – in over 40 countries - across Europe.
