Now that's what you call killer heels... Madonna courts controversy in gun-toting stilettos

Madonna is the latest celebrity to court controversy with an ill-advised fashion accessory.

The 50-year-old singer stepped out in a pair of gun-heeled shoes to attend the premiere of her film Filth and Wisdom in New York last night.

Dressed all in black, the singer topped off her outfit with a pair of Chanel platform shoes, which instead of a heel, has a small gun attached

Chanel's designer supremo Karl Lagerfeld was apparently inspired by an image of a gun, for the label's 2009 mid-season Cruise collection.

He reportedly gave the image to Chanel's shoe designer Laurence Decade, ordering him to make a shoe.

The 'Miami Vice' shoe was first seen on the catwalk, and those designs were made of actual gun casings, painted silver, black, and gold.

But the designs being made for Chanel boutiques are made of a more functional perspex acrylic, called plexiglass.

The shoe is set to be sold worldwide.

Madonna's fashion faux pas will no doubt see the singer accused of insensitivity, and glamorising gun crime.

Recently Lily Allen made a similar boob, after stepping out wearing a chain with an AK47 rifle pendant.

Madonna was in New York to promote her directorial debut.

Filth and Wisdom is the singer's raunchy tale of three roommates who must delve into mischievous and naughty behaviour in pursuit of bigger and brighter futures and includes a cross-dresser.
